Pop/rock leads the entertainment lineup
uran Duran leads the pack of entertainment highlights coming to local and regional venues over the next couple of weeks.
The pop/rock band — featuring founding members Nick Rhodes and John Taylor, plus Roger Taylor and Simon Le Bon — will perform at the PPL Center. Duran Duran, which scored 11 Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles, entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.
Other highlights include reggae acts The Legendary Wailers and Inner Circle playing Penn’s Peak. Wind Creek Event Center, meanwhile, welcomes back Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Diana Ross and Rod Stewart.

• The Legendary Wailers and Inner Circle, 8 p.m. Oct. 18. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, The Wailers’ Junior Marvin played on five albums by reggae artist Bob Marley and the Wailers, including 1977‘s “Exodus.” The latter featured “Jamming” and “One Love”/“People Get Ready.” Marvin, who formed The Legendary Wailers in 2019, released his latest solo set, “Happy Family,” earlier this year. Jamaican reggae band Inner Circle, formed in 1968, scored 1990s hits such as “Cops” theme “Bad Boys” and “Sweat (A La La La La Long).”
• John Waite, 8 p.m. Oct. 19. The English pop/rock singer-songwriter, a member of rock band the Babys from 1975 to 1981, has released 10 solo studio albums. Waite’s 1984 set “No Brakes” housed the hit “Missing You.” The singer recorded two albums with late-1980s rock band Bad English, scoring hits with “When I See You Smile” and “Price of Love.”

• Velvet Stardust Rock Show, 8 p.m. Oct. 25. Stage Stars Productions will present the program, in which dancers take on the Velvet Stardust band in a burlesque battle.
• Grand Slambovian Halloween Ball, 8 p.m. Oct. 26. Formed in 1998 in Sleepy Hollow, New York, the Slambovian Circus of Dreams performs folk, rock, Americana and psychedelic music. The band released its latest album, “A Very Unusual Head,” in 2022.

• Elliott Bild Quartet, 7 p.m. Oct. 18. Bild, a Philadelphia-based trumpeter and composer, will perform with Adam Niewood, Justin Sekelewski and Corey Garcia. Bild will release “Sound Picture,” his second album with The Zone, later this month.
• Dan Wilkins Quartet, 7 p.m. Oct. 25. Wilkins, a saxophonist and composer from the Emmaus/Macungie area, leads the Horizons Quartet. The latter also features Gene Perla, Byron Landham and James Collins. Wilkins, who has recorded albums with father Skip and various ensembles, released latest album “Moonglow” earlier this year.

• Witch, Please! 4 p.m. Oct. 19. The theater will screen 1993’s “Hocus Pocus” and 1989’s “Teen Witch.” The Halloween-themed event will also include a pumpkin egg hunt, a Jack-o’-lantern carving contest, a costume contest, a scavenger hunt and a vendor market.
• “Fright Night,” 5 p.m. Oct. 27. The theater, in partnership with Exhumed Films, will close out its 2024 season with a screening of 1985’s “Fright Night.” Stars William Ragsdale and Stephen Geoffreys, who played Charley Brewster and Edward “Evil Ed” Thompson, respectively, will attend. A bonfire will follow the screening.

• Duran Duran, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 21. Formed in 1978, the English pop/rock band released its debut studio album in 1981. Duran Duran’s hit singles include “Hungry Like the Wolf,” “Rio,” “A View to a Kill,” “Notorious” and “Ordinary World.” Duran Duran released its 16th studio album, “Danse Macabre,” in 2023.
• Godsmack, 7 p.m. Oct. 25. Formed in 1995 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the rock band released its eighth studio album, “Lighting Up the Sky,” in 2023. The band has 13 No. 1s on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart, including “Straight Out of Line” and “Speak,” and two, “Surrender” and “Truth,” from its most recent album.

• Diana Ross, 8 p.m. Oct. 18. Born in Detroit, Ross scored success as lead singer of The Supremes from 1963 to 1970 before going solo. The Supremes’ hits include “Where Did Our Love Go” and “Stop! In the Name of Love”; Ross‘ solo hits include “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “Upside Down.” Ross’ 25th solo album, “Thank You,” arrived in 2021.
• Marlon Wayans, 8 p.m. Oct. 19. Born the youngest of 10 siblings in New York City, the actor, producer, comedian, writer and director starred with brother Shawn on 1990s sitcom “The Wayans Brothers.” Wayans, whose filmography includes 2000’s “Scary Movie“ and 2004’s “White Chicks,” has starred in four comedy specials, including latest “Good Grief.”
• Rod Stewart, 8 p.m. Oct. 23. The English singer-songwriter, a member of Faces from 1969 to 1975, has released 30-plus studio albums, including five “The Great American Songbook” sets. Stewart’s count of 16 Hot 100 top 10 singles includes “Maggie May,” “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright),” “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” and “Young Turks.”
• Billy Ocean and the Pointer Sisters, 8 p.m. Oct. 24. Ocean, a British singer-songwriter, scored 1980s hits such as “Caribbean Queen” and “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car.” Formed in the early 1970s in Oakland, California, the Pointer Sisters scored hits such as “Fire,” “He’s So Shy” and “I’m So Excited.” The group now features original member Ruth Pointer, daughter Issa and granddaughter Sadako.

• Needtobreathe, 7 p.m. Oct. 20. Formed in 2001 in Seneca, South Carolina, the Christian rock band scored a hit single with 2009’s “Brother,” featuring Gavin DeGraw. Needtobreathe released its ninth studio album, “Caves,” in 2023.
• “Whose Live Anyway?” 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26. Current cast members of the long-running TV series “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” will perform improv comedy and audience-suggested songs. The show will feature improv games as seen on the series, plus new ones.

• Lovelytheband and Mod Sun, 7 p.m. Oct. 25. Formed in 2016 in Los Angeles, alternative rock/indie-pop act lovelytheband scored a Billboard Hot 100 top 30 single with “Broken.” The group’s fourth studio album arrived in August. Born in Minnesota, Mod Sun released debut album “Look Up” in 2015, with his fifth studio set, “God Save the Teen,” out in 2023.
