A Texas man was transported to St. Luke’s Carbon Campus on Monday after he was struck by a vehicle in Jim Thorpe Borough.
Jim Thorpe police said they responded to an incident involving a pedestrian at 44 Susquehanna St. just before 1 p.m. Monday.
Noel Bortle of Jim Thorpe was driving south on Route 209 toward Lehighton when the incident occurred, a department press release stated.
Bortle told police that as she was passing the county parking lot, a male, identified as Isaac Gomez Jr. from Houston, stepped into her path and collided with her vehicle’s passenger side, knocking off her mirror.
Witnesses, according to police, confirmed that Gomez was not in a crosswalk at the time and was attempting to cross the road.
Following the collision, Bortle said, she immediately pulled over to assist Gomez.
Emergency medical services from Lehighton arrived on the scene and Gomez was transported for treatment of injuries sustained from the impact.
Police said the investigation has concluded and that no charges were filed.
