Turnpike incidents

State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following incidents on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• Carl Berkenstock, 27, of Huntingdon Valley, was charged with receiving stolen property after police made a traffic stop at mile marker 69.1 in Washington Township at 5:02 p.m. Oct. 8.

Police said Berkenstock was driving a 2014 Ford F-150 that was towing a trailer with a registration plate that was reported stolen by a Philadelphia man.

• Jerome Thomas, of Lindenwold, New Jersey, was charged with receiving stolen property after police made a traffic stop at 1:45 p.m. Sept. 25 in Washington Township on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Police said Thomas was driving a Freightliner, towing as flatbed trailer, that was stopped because a registration plate on the rig was reported stolen. The victim is Kountry Roads Trucking, Sharon Hill.

Thomas had the correct registration plate for the trailer, according to police, but the tractor did not have a front registration plate or an EZPass transponder, in which case Kountry Roads would have been billed for tolls.

In addition to the receiving stolen property charge, Thomas was cited for misuse of a registration plate, for not having the registration plate securely fastened to a vehicle and for toll evasion, police said.

• Police said it was determined that no physical altercation took place regarding a report they received at 9:33 a.m. Sept. 4 at the Hickory Run Plaza in Penn Forest Township.

They said A 32-year-old Jim Thorpe woman reported the incident, alleging two suspects were involved. Police said she was unable to provide a description of the suspects or which direction they fled.
