The head of Slatington’s police department has submitted his letter of resignation.
An item listed for action on Monday’s borough council agenda includes the acceptance of the resignation of borough police Chief Greg Winokur, effective Nov. 16.
Borough council meets at 7 p.m.
Efforts to reach Winokur were unsuccessful.
In February 2023, council hired Winokur as new chief of police at a rate of $95,000 per year plus benefits.
Winokur came from the Bensalem Police Department where he served as an administrative sergeant.
Winokur’s resignation would leave the borough without two top administrative positions.
In August, borough council accepted the retirement of former borough Manager Dan Stevens.
Stevens, who became borough manager in February 2020, previously had served on borough council from 2009 to 2014, and from 2018 to 2020.
The borough had posted the job title for borough manager on its website and is in the process of hiring a candidate.
