State police at Hazleton - crashes

State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following crashes:

• Barry Chaskin, 81, of Hazleton, had minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 8:18 p.m. Sept. 24 on Route 309 in Hazle Township.

Police said he did not require a medical transport by the McAdoo Fire Company Ambulance Association personnel.

The crash occurred when Chaskin was driving a 2022 Lexus east on the Arthur Gardner Parkway and turned north onto South Church Street directly in the path of a 2012 Honda Pilot driven by Julianne C. Grega, 36, of Weatherly, police said. She was uninjured.

Chaskin was cited after the crash, police said.

• Police said the driver of a vehicle that struck a 2024 Peterbilt at 3:28 p.m. Sept. 27 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township fled the scene after the incident.

Peter A. Anaya, 59, of Harrod, Ohio, was operating the rig westbound when the vehicle struck it while passing in the right lane. Anaya pulled into a parking lot but the striking vehicle continued west on the interstate, police said.
