Coroner IDs Lehighton woman killed in Route 895 crash

The identity of a woman who died in a single vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Route 895 in West Penn Township has been released.

Schuylkill County Coroner Dr. David Moylan III identified the woman as Lora Gould, 58, of Lehighton.

Route 895 was closed to traffic Tuesday morning as a result of the crash which occurred around 6:30 a.m. along Route 895 just east of Walnut Lane.

Gould was driving a pickup traveling west when she lost control, crossing the road and hitting the guide rails before the pickup landed on its side in a wooded area.

On Wednesday, Tiffanie Schafer, owner of the Mason Jar Family Diner in Andreas, posted on Facebook about the loss of Gould, who worked their as a waitress at the time of her passing.

“With great sadness we have lost an exceptional individual who touched everyone’s lives,” Schafer said. “Her heart was as big as her personality, always putting others before herself.

“We will miss her dearly, not just for her contagious positivity but also for the joy she brought to The Mason Jar family. Lora you were not only my employee, but you were my dear friend. You will be forever the heart of The Mason Jar.”

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Blue Mountain Community Church, 25 Oak St., Palmerton. Call 9-10 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Contributions in her name may be made to the memorial fund of the church, c/o the Blue Mountain Community Church Memorial Fund in care of the Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, PA 18071.
