Sew What Quilt Guild plans bingo Sunday
The Sew What Quilt Guild will host a Quilt Lovers Bingo on Sunday at the Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company located at 270 Little Gap Road, Palmerton.
Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. Bingo will start at 1 p.m.
Every bingo prize will be a beautiful handmade quilt created by group members, from lap size to queen size.
The coverall prize pictured will be a queen size quilt that was a joint effort among guild members. Each member stitched a block together.
Then the quilt was assembled by Cheryl Hank and long arm quilted by Sharon Gower. Ticket price includes cards for 20 games plus 5 specials.
Additional cards and refreshments will be available to purchase. There will be a 50/50 drawing.
The proceeds will benefit the Palmerton Library and the Sew What Quilt Guild.
The guild participates in many community service projects.
• Family Promise — by making and selling handcrafted Christmas ornaments to raise funds for them. Also, members make quilts and pillowcases to donate to families in need at the holidays.
• Quilts of Valor — guild members create quilts to donate to local veterans. A Quilt of Valor is an award to service members and veterans who have been touched by war. It says, “thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.”
• Mennonite Central Committee — Sew together menstrual pads for Dignity kits that provide essential hygiene items for women and girls. With eco-friendly, reusable menstrual pads, they promote sustainability and help break down barriers that keep girls from attending school in Third World countries.
