Rentschler to hold grand reopening
The grand reopening of a longtime car dealership in Slatington will celebrate not only its past, but usher in the thrill of new beginnings.
Rentschler Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Slatington will hold a three-day event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
The event will be highlighted with a grand reopening from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, with a ribbon cutting set to take place at 11:30 a.m.
Guests can take a tour of the new building and enjoy some refreshments. There will also be a basket and gift card raffle as well.
Greg Rentschler, vice president, explained that the new addition is a 9,000 square-foot shop service department.
Rentschler said it allowed them to get a higher roof to be able to lift trucks with things that are taller.
He said there are 13 bays total in that building. Previously, they only had seven to eight.
“Now we have two big truck lifts so we can lift 20,000 pounds, more commercial kind of stuff we can do,” Rentschler said. “It’s generally just nice to have more working space area.”
Those aren’t the only benefits associated with the new building that was completed at the end of May, according to Rentschler.
“Efficiency is definitely up and helps; it’s nice and comfortable as well,” he said. “We made it air conditioning for them guys for when it’s hot.”
Rentschler noted that the old shop which is adjacent is now a service drive that boasts a separate section with a glass vestibule.
“They drive in, park, get out, we walk around your car, you come in and sit, and one of my people comes in and drives around the back,” he said. “It’s a 10-bay service drive, what the space was with what we had left.”
Rentschler added that while they would have liked to host the event sooner, they felt now was the right time. The dealership’s 50th anniversary would have been April 2023, but they never really celebrated the occasion.
“Because we broke ground, we were never really able to have our 50th,” he said. “Although this open house isn’t for our 50th anniversary, we felt like we had to something.”
Rentschler said the open house should serve as a reminder of all the dealership has to offer.
“I hope people see that they don’t have to travel 30 minutes to the south to have a great experience, and that they can see a very nice facility,” he said. “Our employees are a great bunch of people to work with.
“The showroom is entirely all done over, it’s almost jaw-dropping when you see it. We want people to know we’re here, a player in the new and used car market, service, and we can do pretty much everything.”
