October 9, 1978 — Led by John Andrews, Palmerton cruises to a 16 1/2-1 1/2 victory over Pocono Mountain to clinch the Blue Bombers’ third consecutive Centennial League championship. Andrews posts a new course record of 66 at the par-72 Blue Ridge County Club course to gain a 3-0 victory in his head-to-head match. His brother Jim Andrews also captures a 3-0 win against his opponent, as do teammates Frank Johannes and Dave Chmeil. Dave Costenbader adds a 2 1/2-1/2 win, while Scott Shigo chips in with a 2-1 victory.
