Northwestern’s soccer teams both finished the regular season undefeated with wins over Catasauqua on Tuesday.

In volleyball action, Jim Thorpe’s Brooke Mitzen reached a milestone while Marian clinched the Schuylkill League Division 2 title.

Lehighton-Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe scored three first-half goals to edge Lehighton, 3-2, in Colonial League action.

Ehren Hassler, Conor Holland and Hayden Meckes all had a goal and an assist for the Olympians.

Northwestern closed out an undefeated regular season with a 2-0 shutout of perennial power Kutztown.

The Tigers received first-half tallies from Jack Mauro and Cole Mertz, while goalie Brandon Krapft registered the shutout by making seven saves.

Weatherly nearly upset Schuylkill Haven, but ended up dropping a 3-2 Schuylkill League overtime decision to the Hurricanes.

Corbin Wagner’s second-half goal knotted the score and forced the OT. The Wreckers also received a goal from Vincent Paisley.

Katelynn Barthold led the Bulldogs with a pair of goals.

Brook Balliet sparked the Tigers with a hat trick and an assist, while Kherington Yezik finished with two goals and four assists.

The Lehighton and Palmerton boys teams both posted 3-1 marks in Colonial League action.

The Bombers’ Connor Hibell won the boys race in a time of 16:47.46, while Lehighton’s Elijah Pagotto placed second.

In the girls competition, Northern Lehigh’s Emma Heil earned a second-place finish. Jim Thorpe’s Stacy Bos recorded a team-best seventh place.

PV’s Danielle Boland won the race in a time of 20:59, while Keeley Lawrence (seventh) also placed in the top ten.

In the boys meet, the Bears went 0-3 but Marty Green turned in a second-place effort, crossing in 17:19.

Catasauqua-Jim Thorpe

Brooke Mitzen posted her 1,000th career kill as Jim Thorpe swept Catasauqua in Colonial League action.

Mitzen had 19 kills in the match. Brianna Snisky added six aces, while Maura Malaska contributed five aces and 29 assists.
