The Monroe County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died in a Monroe County fire Sunday.

John Stoneking, 68, from Smithfield Township, was pronounced deceased at 5:17 p.m. after an apartment fire.

An autopsy was completed on Tuesday. The cause of death was thermal injuries and inhalation of products of combustion and the manner of death was ruled an accident.

State police said two other people suffered burn injuries and were transported to a local medical facility for treatment.

The investigation remains active by the PSP Stroudsburg Criminal Investigation Unit along with the Troop N Fire Marshal Unit.
