Collections for hurricane victims are being taken throughout the area:
• Northern Lehigh community is coming together to gather items for those in need down south from the hurricane.
Items used and new are both appreciated! Items will be collected through Thursday at the following drop-off locations: Rentschler Chevrolet- Showroom, 275 N. Walnut St., Slatington; Krackerjax Country Store (Slatedale Gas Station); Aaron B Kromer Notary Services, 6861 Route 873 Slatington; Joe’s Place, Palmerton.
Items being collected: baby diapers, wipes, formula, diaper cream, pet food and supplies, feminine hygiene products, blankets, sleeping bags, tents, tarps, first aid supplies, over the counter meds such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, allergy medication, poison ivy relief, nonperishable foods; cleaning products — soaps, bleach, all-purpose cleaner, dishwashing liquid; contractor size garbage bags; flashlights; lighters; batteries; gloves; brooms; shovels; buckets; chainsaws — chains, bar oil.
Please no clothing, water or furniture.
• Salem St. Paul be collecting items to deliver to Emmanuel Lutheran church in Asheville where they will continue to distribute items to the folks in need there. People can bring the items to Salem-St. Paul church on Trach Road in Kresgeville, Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Items that have been requested include: water, diapers, paper towels, soft pouch baby meals, feminine products; bleach wipes, large garbage bags, hand sanitizer; new blankets or towels; personal hygiene items; instant meals that don’t require heat or water; charcoal; flashlights and batteries, new underwear.
