Rummage and food sales

A rummage sale will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 200 E. Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 8 and 9.

Lunch and supper will be served. Bag day will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10 and lunch will be served. Refreshments, eat-in and takeouts are available. The menu features homemade soups, halupki, halushki, pierogies, and beef, turkey and pork barbecue. Homemade baked goods will also be available.

Proceeds will benefit kitchen upgrades.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Sept 26, with 23 members present.

The president opened the meeting with the invocation, “Season of Fall.” Two guests attended. Three members were added to the sick list. A food collection for the Tamaqua Hunger Campaign is underway. Bingo and cards were played.

The seniors meet at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim Leskovich will bring the message of “Sharing Life with Jesus” during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Calvary Evangelical in Lewistown Valley. The celebration of Holy Communion will be held and special music will be presented by April Gerber. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:15 a.m.

The Wednesday small group prayer for all ages is at 7 p.m.

The annual Sunday school Rally Day will begin at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 13, with music, skits, play, puppets and experiments. At 6:30 p.m., a musical program will be presented by the Roth family of Lebanon. The Rev. Kyle Roth is the pastor of Manbeck’s Zion EC Church in Rock. All are welcome.

Rummage sale

A fill-a-bag rummage sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the Tamaqua First United Methodist Church, 124 W. Broad St. The cost is $5 per bag.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Communion will be included during the service. Sunday school for children and adults begins at 9:30 a.m.

All are invited to the next episode of “The Chosen” at 2 p.m. Sunday in the social hall.
