Zion UCC, Second and Iron streets in Lehighton, will host its ecumenical Christmas Cantata. This year’s cantata “One Incredible Moment” will be held on Dec. 1 in the sanctuary of Zion UCC. It’s a special cantata that consists of a mix of contemporary and traditional songs.
The narration is written by Max Lucado. The music and orchestration and music is by Tom Fettke. The cantata will be accompanied by Zion’s Festival Orchestra, a 20-piece orchestra with members from the Lehighton area and beyond.
The cantata will feature singers from many Carbon County church choirs and groups as well as those not affiliated with any choir.
Practice CDs will be made available. Experience isn’t necessary, and anyone in ninth grade and older is invited to join. Singers are encouraged to attend as many rehearsals as possible but are not expected to make all of them. Male and female voices are needed.
Rehearsal dates are: Wednesday, Oct. 9, 8:30 p.m.; Oct. 17, 7:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Oct. 22, 7:30 p.m.; Oct. 30, 8:30 p.m.; Nov. 7, 7:30 p.m.; Nov. 12, 7:30 p.m.; Nov. 20, 8:30 p.m.; Nov. 24, 3 p.m. (dress rehearsal with orchestra); Nov. 27, 7:30 p.m.; Dec. 1, 3 p.m. (performance at 7:30 p.m.).
