The Schuylkill County Historical Society is hosting the following events:
• The 1920s Pottsville Maroons NFL team will be the focus of the Schuylkill County Historical Society’s trivia night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chopping Block, 370 S. Centre St., Pottsville.
• Paranormal researcher Jeff Dengler will present a program at the Schuylkill County Historical Society, 305 N. Centre St., Pottsville, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The author of “The Minersville Mansion,” “The Spirits of Shoemakersville Road” and “The Homestead Haunting of the Oley Valley,” Dengler will discuss his books. • Mechanicsville author Dean Alan Conrad will discuss and sign copies of “After Dark,” his novel about homeless people preyed upon by the undead, at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 10, at the Schuylkill County Historical Society. For more details, contact the society.
• Former Pennsylvania Paranormal Research Team Director Richard Bigg will share tales of sorcerers, hex cats and more from his new book, “Magic in the Mountains,” at 7 p.m. Oct. 12, at the Schuylkill County Historical Society. For more details, contact the society.
• 1920s film footage of New Philadelphia will be presented by retired grocer Bill McMullen and historian Helen Smeltz at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17, at the Schuylkill County Historical Society. Admission to the program, which is sponsored by state Sen. David Argall, is free, but donations are accepted. For more details, contact the society.
