Senior Center
The Panther Valley Senior Center announced the menu for Oct. 7-11.
Monday: Chicken Scampi, Pasta, Vegetable Blend, Fruited Jell-O or Beef Sandwich.
Tuesday: Sloppy Joe, Potato Wedges, Salad, Orange or Ham and Cheese Sandwich.
Wednesday: Orange Chicken, Fried Rice, Stir Fry Veggies, Tropical Fruit or Chicken Caesar Salad.
Thursday: Stuffed Pepper, Mashed Potatoes, Mixed Vegetables, Yogurt or BBQ Chicken Sandwich.
Friday: Cheese Omelet, Sausage Patty, Potatoes, Fruit Salad or Ranch Chicken Salad.
The senior center also announced the following events:
Wii Bowling on Oct. 4 at 11 a.m.
Scattergories on Oct. 7 at 11 a.m.; Bingo on Oct. 8 at 10:45 a.m. Trivia on Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. and an Ice Cream Social after lunch; Jason Diehl will be here on Oct. 10 to talk about the new transport services provided by the Lehighton Ambulance; Po-Keeno on Oct. 11 at 11 a.m.
Cards, Pool, Games, available daily from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. New members are welcome.

Nesquehoning
bake sale fundraiser
Nesquehoning’s fundraising group will hold a bake sale from 9 a.m.-noon, Oct. 11 in front of the borough office building, 114 W. Catawissa St. Proceeds from the sale help raise funds for community events in the borough.
Historical society
The Nesquehoning Historical Society’s regular membership meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Oct. 15.
Summit Hill Historical Society
The Summit Hill Historical Society will hold a special presentation of “Uranium in Carbon County” at 6 p.m. on Oct. 16.
The presentation, which will sort fact from fiction about uranium in the mountains, will be presented by local history expert Vince Hydro.
Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. so you can browse the museum of local artifacts. There will also be a uranium glass display for your viewing pleasure.
The historical society is located at 1 W. Hazard St., Summit Hill.
Panther Valley Library
The Panther Valley Public Library will hold Fall Story Hour for children ages 3-5 on Oct. 16 and 30, Nov. 6 and 20 and Dec. 4 and 18, beginning at 10 a.m.
There will be a story, craft and light snack.
To register a child, call the library at 570-645-3780. The event is free.
Medicare help
Appointments are now available at the Panther Valley Public Library, Summit Hill Heritage Center and Panther Valley Senior Center in Nesquehoning for seniors looking to save money on Medicare and prescription plans.
Appointments through Carbon County Area Agency on Aging will help individuals make the best decision on prescription plans for them.
Appointments are from 9 a.m. to noon at:
• The Summit Hill Heritage Center: Oct. 16, 23, 30; Nov. 6, 13, 20 and 27; and Dec. 4.
• Panther Valley Library: Oct. 18 and 25; Nov. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29; and Dec. 6.
Appointments from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at:
• Panther Valley Senior Center: Oct. 22 and Nov. 19.
