Palmerton has reached out to anyone who had planned to participate in this year’s Greater Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade to take part in its rendition.
Susie Arner, parade chairperson, Palmerton Halloween Parade, made the announcement via a post on Facebook Tuesday evening.
“We would like to invite anyone who was planning to be in the 2024 Northern Lehigh parade to join Palmerton’s Halloween parade,” Arner posted. “We recognize that unexpected things happen, and in order for our small town communities to help one another continue their traditions, we are here to help.”
The 33rd annual Palmerton Halloween Parade is scheduled for 4 p.m. Oct. 20.
“This year the Northern Lehigh parade has been canceled,” Arner posted. “It is our hope through this invitation that anyone planning to be in the Northern Lehigh parade will join us in Palmerton’s 2024 parade.”
Arner said that questions may be sent to Arner’s Facebook post, or to sya1956@ptd.net
The Northern Lehigh Events Committee posted on its Facebook page Aug. 20 that a lack of state approval for its proposed new detour due to a bridge project had resulted in the cancellation of this year’s parade.
The Walnut Street bridge was closed in June and will remain shut down until it has been replaced.
