October 3, 1966 — Paul Skrimcovsky carries 24 times for 157 yards to help Jim Thorpe record a 7-0 victory over Pocono Mountain. Duane Billig adds 91 yards on the ground in 16 attempts as the Olympians, coached by Angie Konstas finish with 274 rushing yards. Billig breaks a scoreless tie in the third quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run. The score is set up by a fumble recovery in the red zone by Karper. After the turnover, Skrimcovsky picks up 10 yards and Billig three more before his blast into the end zone. The last minutes of the game are played in dark conditions when the temporary lighting system fails, producing less than half of the electrical power.
