Second deer collision in two days claims life of Macungie man

A motorcycle crash this morning at about 5:20 in Lowhill Township claimed the life of a 57-year-old man from Macungie.

It was the second fatal motorcycle crash involving deer that happened this week.

Today, state police at the Fogelsville barracks reported the second death of a cyclist due to a crash with a deer, saying it happened on the area of Route 100 in the vicinity of Windy Road, Lowhill Township.

They said Donald E. Guldin man was operating a 2022 Harley Davidson when the impact occurred.

Police said Route 100 northbound was closed during the investigation and the southbound lane was utilized for traffic to travel both north and south during this investigation.

The roadway reopened at 8:12 a.m.

Assisting at the scene were officials of the Troop M Forensic Services Unit, Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, Fogelsville Fire Department and Cetronia Emergency Medical Services.

On Tuesday, Frederick R. Brauchle, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene of a similar incident at 5:30 a.m. in the area of 4842 Mountain Road, Washington Township. State police at the Bethlehem barracks investigated that accident.
