PPL Electric Utilities crews were sent to Georgia to assist with power restoration efforts stemming from Hurricane Helene.
The Allentown-based company said that it had dispatched 60 of its line workers, along with 80 contractor line workers to Atlanta to help prepare for restoration efforts from the affects of Hurricane Helene.
Drone assessment and storm management resources were also sent to help assess damage and manage restoration efforts as safely and efficiently as possible. Crews were expected to arrive Friday in Atlanta.
PPL belongs to both the Southeast Electric Exchange and the North Atlantic Mutual Assistance Group. Membership in the exchanges allows its member companies to call upon other utilities to for assistance.
Before offering resources through its mutual assistance partnerships, PPL said it assessed potential storms and customer needs across its 29-county service area in Pennsylvania and anticipates there will not be any major outages here as a result of this week’s rain.
But if conditions change, the utility said, PPL was staffed and prepared to respond.
