Revenue from deeds

Carbon County Recorder of Deeds Donna Gentile reported her office recorded 224 deeds, 190 mortgages and 278 other writs during the month of August.

As a result of those transactions, Gentile turned over to the Carbon County General Fund the sum of $38,439.61. A breakdown of that revenue includes: transfer fees, $28,109.78; data processing fees, $835; notaries, $40; commission on transfers and writs, $8,066.73; and Affordable Housing administrative fee, $1,388.10.

Gentile remitted $346 in state writ taxes to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, while Carbon County municipalities and school districts shared realty transfer tax disbursements totaling $402,756.67, the same amount that was forwarded to the state in realty transfer taxes.

Gentile deposited $2,073 in the Recorder of Deeds Record Improvement Fund and $1,382 in the Carbon County Records Improvement Fund, these being fees assessed by state law on each transaction for records management needs. An additional $25,478.25 was collected and remitted to the state for its Judicial Computer System program. Also, $7,865.90 in Carbon County Affordable Housing Program fees and $6,210 in Demolition Fees were collected last month.

In all, funds collected in the Recorder’s office last month amounted to $887,308.10.
