It’s an opportunity for Lehighton residents to meet their county and local first responders.
In between, Lehighton’s National Night Out promises to mix food, fun and friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Baer Memorial Park.
Rescheduled after being postponed in August, the event is being hosted by the Lehighton Borough Police Department.
Borough police Chief Troy Abelovsky said the event offers something for everyone.
“There will be a lot of free giveaways, games and prizes for the kids, information from county agencies and great food from nonprofit organizations,” Abelovsky said. “Bring the entire family and enjoy a fun evening with us.”
Highlights of the event are as follows:
• Dunk tank with some well-known faces (proceeds to help support “Shop With a Cop”).
• Tug-of-war contest at 6 p.m. (proceeds benefit “Shop with a Cop”).
• Medevac helicopter landing.
• Music from Layne “The Doc” Roberts of Colossal Radio.
• Scavenger hunt with prices.
• Bounce house for kids.
• Large yard games (cornhole/tic tac toe).
• Lehighton Fire Department.
• Simulated crash scene/use of tools demonstration.
National Night Out is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
