Tamaqua was featured in a recent edition of Pennsylvania Magazine.
“Revitalize It & They Will Come” by Cindy Ross tells of the borough’s past — then offers slices of how it’s changed, and what it now offers.
For her article, Ross spent a weekend in Tamaqua, staying at the completely overhauled and renovated Bischoff Inn.
She visited popular attractions like the historic Tamaqua Train Station, Owl Creek Reservoirs, Tamaqua Arts Center, Tamaqua Historical Society and the Hometown Farmers Market.
Ross also sampled foods and beverages from places like Hope & Coffee, Padora’s Italian Bakery, Leiby’s Restaurant, Heisler’s Cloverleaf Dairy and La Dolce Casa.
To highlight the community’s revitalization, she writes of the efforts of numerous volunteers, including those who saved the train station, along with organizations that help with revitalization efforts, including the Tamaqua CRIZ and Tamaqua Area Community Partnership.
The feature is in the July/August edition, which also included stories about Johnston, Gettysburg and places to launch kayaks and canoes.
Pennsylvania Magazine produces a print magazine with stories, colorful images and informative articles that showcase the beauty and rich culture of Pennsylvania.
