Carbon County Commissioners

The Carbon County Commissioners approved the following items:

• An amendment to the grant application through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency for the $250,000 grant the county received for pretrial assessment and diversion. The amendment asks for a one-year extension for the project period, extending the end date to Sept. 30, 2025.

• A special commissioners meeting at 6 p.m. on Oct. 29 to set the salary for elected officials for 2028 and 2029.

• An award of funding for $69,300 for the 2024-25 Juvenile Probation Services Grant for salary reimbursement of the juvenile court office.

• An extension/termination to an agreement with Anzalone Forensic Psychology LLC of Wilkes-Barre for professional services for mental health, competency evaluations and counseling for the public defender’s office at a rate of $175 per hour, plus travel, not to exceed $24,850 a year. Termination date for the agreement is Dec. 31.

• Hire: Kimberly A. Mercer of Nesquehoning, social services aide I, children and youth services, effective Sept. 23.

• Changes of status: Joseph M. Cyburt of Weatherly, from seasonal park ranger II, to seasonal park ranger II/part-time parking meter attendant, effective Sept. 20; and Rhonda L. Spadell of Palmerton, from benefits and billing coordinator, human resources; to fiscal/data processing supervisor trainee, effective Sept. 23.

• Court resignation: Laura M. Baranko of McAdoo, certified court reporter, court administration, effective Sept. 13.
