Jim Thorpe’s fall tourist season may not be over yet, but it’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas.
The borough has officially opened registration for its third annual Festival of Trees, which will be held at Jim Thorpe Memorial Park. The popular holiday features local residents and businesses decorating trees to light up the park during the holiday season.
Borough officials said interested participants can purchase a tree for $45, with each tree standing approximately 6 feet tall.
Registration forms are now available at the borough office during normal business hours, or can be downloaded from the borough’s website at www.jtborough.org.
Completed forms, along with payment, should be returned to the office at 101 E. Tenth St., Jim Thorpe, PA 18229.
“Decorating for this year’s festival will begin on Nov. 27, and participants have until Dec. 3 to complete their tree,” the event’s registration form states.
All trees must follow the event guidelines, which include using L.E.D. lighting, exterior extension cords only, and no glass ornaments. Participants are responsible for securing their decorations.
The 2024 event is sponsored by Shawn Kresge Services Inc.
