September 21, 1956 — Tamaqua uses an impressive rushing attack to help gain a 31-0 victory over Blythe Township. The Blue Raiders, coached by Dick Jones, run the ball 53 times for a total of 353 yards. Hal Barron leads the way with 117 yards on 18 carries, including a 6-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Frank Ike collects 85 yards on nine attempts, while Bob Barnisky picks up 44 yards on eight carries — including the game’s first score on a 8-yard run. Tamaqua also receives TD runs from Dave Stultz and John Burcin, while Phil Ehrig adds an 8-yard scoring catch from Lusky.
