Letter to the editor: Think about child when considering books

A most important point was made by a concerned Citizen at the Lehighton School Board “Book Auditing” at the Lehighton School Board meeting on Sept 9.

If a parent’s permission to take out “certain books” is needed and that parent does not support that child’s thoughts and desires, then how does this policy support the education of that child?

If nothing else is taken away from this meeting, this is certainly the most important point to take away from this board meeting. Each school board member needs to think about this regardless of their personal beliefs. This is the duty of each school board member regardless of how they may feel.

Can our school board deny this? Every Lehighton resident please come to the next school board meeting Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. Bring your neighbors! The Lehighton School board is considering a slippery slope toward “Book Banning.”
