One person was seriously injured late Thursday morning in a crash in Nesquehoning.
The crash occurred around 11:45 a.m. at the intersection of Routes 209 and 54. Fire departments from Nesquehoning and Jim Thorpe were dispatched to the scene with heavy entrapment.
On scene, firefighters worked to free the victim from the wreckage, which was partially tipped into a large ditch just beyond the intersection, resting right next to a home. A utility pole that had been snapped during the crash also rested on the vehicle, as well as partially on the residence.
Once freed, the victim was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics before being flown by LifeFlight 6 to a Lehigh Valley area trauma center.
The 300 block of West Catawissa Street was shut down so crews could work the scene. It remained closed as of 2:30 p.m. as emergency crews waited for a utility company to arrive to remove the fiber lines and snapped pole from on top of the house and vehicle.
Police Chief Michael Weaver said that the investigation continues at this time and will release further details after the investigation is completed.
