Local roundup: Results from Sept. 18

Tamaqua’s boys and girls cross country teams posted sweeps in Schuylkill League action Wednesday, while the Marian girls team posted a pair of wins to continue its stellar season.

Elsewhere, Pleasant Valley’s field hockey team scored its first victory of the season with a dominant performance.

The Tamaqua boys and girls swept a Schuylkill League quad meet Pottsville.

Tamaqua’s Anthony Marchetti won the boys’ meet in a time of 17:36 to help the Blue Raiders stay unbeaten at 7-0.

Sebastian Williams, of Weatherly, crossed the finish line in third place, while the Blue Raiders’ Aiden Elston and Adam Schock placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Abraham Cabrera, of Panther Valley, ran independently and finished sixth.

The Blue Raiders’ Molly Walker and Isabella Jones posted second- and fourth-place finishes, respectively, in the girls’ meet as Tamaqua moved to 6-1.

The Marian Fillies stayed unbeaten in Schuylkill League action with a sweep in a tri-meet at Mahanoy Area.

The Fillies posted a 20-43 win over Mahanoy Area, and edged Shenandoah Valley 27-28.

Teaghan Biros paced the Fillies (6-0) with a third-place finish. Addison Fritz finished in fifth place.

Wade Eroh led the Colts (4-2) with a fifth-place finish.
