Megan Ray of Weatherly has completed her studies for her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree at St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, British West Indies.
On Aug. 15, during the traditional “White Coat Ceremony,” Ray was presented with her white coat by Dr. Charles Dickinson, chairman of The Department of Clinical Veterinary Sciences at the university. During her studies, she was a class representative of the Student Association of Veterinary Medical Associates for semesters four through seven.
Ray has been assigned to Washington State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Pullman, Washington, commencing Sept. 3, for her yearlong clinical rotations as the final part of her journey to becoming a veterinarian. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency care, as well as care for all sizes of animals, which will provide intense training with hands-on experience.
Ray graduated from Kutztown University in 3½ years with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, with a concentration in pre-veterinary medicine. She is also a 2015 top 10 graduate of Weatherly Area High School and the daughter of Cindy and Robert Yurchak, and Lawrence Ray of Weatherly. At home are brothers Andrew Ray and Steph Yurchak, and nephew Mason Ray.
