Towamensing working on trash collection rates
Towamensing Township supervisors are working on a price for trash collection next year.
They responded to Bruce Foote of Beltzville Lake Estates, who asked if the township knew the increase in trash for the upcoming year and the response was “We’re working on it.”
Foote also asked about the different zoning requirements for permeability as half of the community is in Towamensing Township and half in Penn Forest Township. It was explained that the zoning board would take care of this on a property by property request for variances.
The Metzger reverse subdivision plan was approved on the conditions of the fees being paid.
A time extension request was approved until Dec. 13 for the Lakeside Self Storage land development.
No new action was taken with the past due garbage civil complaints filed with the magistrate.
In new business, a Summer Mountain Road resident asked why she was denied permits to replace her single trailer with a double wide. The board explained that a conditional use hearing is needed and a hearing date of Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. will be advertised.
Authorization was made to enforce two ordinances. One being a driveway permitting/construction ordinance to stop runoff from driveways onto Township roads. The other was obstruction and nuisance on Township Road regarding stopping trash on the roads.
Bids will go out for diesel, heating oil and road material.
The Historical Commission noted that the one room schoolhouse is progressing. Enough has been done to the outside that it will not decay any further. The commission will be looking into restoration of the inside.
