The Puffers will perform at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Road.
Bob Puffer spent 13 years in country music, beginning his career in the nightclub business. He passed an audition to appear on the national television show “Hee Haw,” and later contracted for a concert where he shared the billing with The Oakridge Boys.
He was often interviewed as an up-and-coming country music personality and was written about in the Music City News.
After trusting God as his Savior, he left the nightclub business in 1982 and sought God’s will for his life. His income dropped dramatically as he took employment as a baker.
With guidance from his pastor and much prayer, he stepped into full-time gospel music in 1986. In 1989, he met and married Darlene, who left her job to step out in faith to join her husband in the ministry.
Bob plays acoustic guitar, five-string banjo, violin, mandolin, dobro and ukulele. Darleen adds keyboard and vocals, and occasionally plays clarinet and saxophone.
Attendees will hear lively instrumentals to Southern gospel, country, folk, traditional and comedy.
The Puffers have traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada. Their songs have been played on television and radio, and they have had several number one songs.
Bob appeared on the main stage with the gospel group at the Chet Atkins Convention in Nashville in 2019 and 2023. The Puffers were voted “Group of the Year” and “Musician of the Year” at the Lighthouse Gospel Music Association convention in North Carolina.
