PennDOT announces construction on Interstate 80 in Monroe County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announces work in Monroe County this weekend on Interstate 80.

As of Friday, Lincoln Avenue will be fully closed to allow for continued work on the bridge construction as part of the Interstate 80, Exit 308 project.

The closure will affect both northbound and southbound traffic on Lincoln Avenue, which has been partially restricted due to ongoing overhead bridge construction.

The current northbound closure will remain in place, while the southbound lane will also be restricted until the work is completed.

Once finished, the southbound closure will be lifted, but the northbound restriction will continue for the time being.

A detour has been established to redirect both southbound and borthbound traffic, utilizing Prospect Street (SR 2017/2024), Ridgeway Street (SR 2024) and Brown Street (SR 2012). Drivers are encouraged to follow the posted signs to ensure a smooth flow of traffic around the work zone.

The full closure is expected to last for five days, ending by 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Work is also scheduled in Jackson and Pocono townships between Exit 293 (JCT I-380) and Exit 299 (Route 715).

Lane restrictions will be in place on I-80 east between exits 293 and 299 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

There will also be work on the I-80 west interchange ramps at Exit 298 (Route 611). Expect significant delays and please use caution driving through the work zone.

The work is part of an ongoing project to improve I-80 between I-380 and Tannersville. Work includes milling, concrete patching, paving, pavement marking upgrades, guide rail updates and bridge preservation work on nine bridges.
