Area venues have plenty of events scheduled

Los Lonely Boys, which released its latest album “Resurrection” in August, leads the pack of entertainment coming to local and regional venues over the next two weeks.
The trio of brothers — whose “Texican” style includes elements of rock, Texas blues, soul, country and Tejano music — will perform at Penn’s Peak.
Among other music highlights: the Jamie McLean Band will bring its brand of alt-country to Mauch Chunk Opera House; Signature Event Center welcomes former Dishwalla frontman J.R. Richards; and Wind Creek Event Center welcomes singer Tom Jones.
Big-name comedy also comes to the area, with Kevin James and Caroline Rhea playing Wind Creek Event Center and Mount Airy Casino Resort, respectively.

• Deck Parties. Shows start at 1 p.m. Friends of Roger, playing pop/rock hits from the 1960s to present, will perform Sept. 8. Trio Honey & Nutz, whose members also perform as part of Hunkajunk, will perform Sept. 15.
• Los Lonely Boys, 8 p.m. Sept. 13. Formed in San Antonio in 1996, the “Texican” rock band features brothers Henry, Jojo and Ringo Garza. Los Lonely Boys’ 2004 eponymous debut album featured the hit single “Heaven.” Released in August, the trio’s “Resurrection” — its first studio album in more than a decade — features the single “Wish You Would.”
• Daytime Shows. Music starts at 1 p.m. Kara Chandler will present Believe: The Cher Show on Sept. 17, while Ted Vigil will perform a tribute to John Denver on Sept. 18.

• Jamie Mclean Band, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12. The Americana, alt-country group, which released debut studio album “Completely” in 2010, plays New Orleans soul, middle-Americana roots and Delta blues music. The band, set to release new studio set “One Step Forward” in October, has shared stages with artists such as Gregg Allman, Aaron Neville and Los Lobos.
• Tusk, 8 p.m. Sept. 13 and 14. The act performs the music of rock band Fleetwood Mac.

• Dueling Pianos Night Fundraiser, 7 p.m. Sept. 7. The Flying Ivories will perform a show in which two pianists face each other on stage, and take turns playing audience requests.
• Comedy Night, 8 p.m. Sept. 13. Kricket Comedy will present the show, set to include comedians Steve Bickel, Shana Harton and Eddie Gallagher.

• Burn, Witch-Baby, Burn, 6 p.m. Sept. 6 and 7. Author Grady Hendrix will introduce six films acting as a prelude to his latest book, “Witchcraft For Wayward Girls.” The lineup 1962’s “Burn, Witch, Burn,” 1974’s “It’s Alive” and 1977’s “Suspiria.”
• “Zombie” with Live Score, 6 p.m. Sept. 8. Exhumed Films and the theater will present Mahoning’s first live-score event. Film composer Fabio Frizzi and his orchestra will perform an expanded version of his score to Lucio Fulci’s horror flick “Zombie” alongside the film.
• Luther’s Mid-Fright Snack Presents “Pizza Party Massacre,” 6 p.m. Sept. 13. The Luther’s Mid-Fright Snack creators will present the world premiere of their first feature-length film “Pizza Party Massacre,” shot on VHS. A Q&A with the cast and crew will follow the film.
• Video Game Night. 6 p.m. Sept. 15. Retroware and the theater will screen the 1989 family film “The Wizard.” which officially introduced the video game “Super Mario Brothers 3” to North America. A tournament of said game will follow the film on the big screen.

• J.R. Richards, 7 p.m. Sept. 13. Born in Santa Barbara, California, the singer-songwriter was the original lead singer for alternative rock band Dishwalla. Richards recorded four albums with the band before departing in 2005; the group scored its biggest mainstream success with 1996 single “Counting Blue Cars.” Richards will perform his acoustic show, including music from 2019’s “Under the Cover.”
• Original Sounds Unleashed, 8 p.m. Sept. 13. The show will feature: Hot4Robot, a synth-infused alternative-rock act; Days Before Tomorrow, a progressive rock, metal and electronica act; and Roi and the Secret People, an indie/alternative act.

• The Weight Band, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7. Jim Weider, a 15-year former member of Canadian-American rock act The Band and the Levon Helm Band, started the group in 2013. The Weight Band, which performs originals and The Band classics, released debut album “World Gone Mad” in 2018 and most recent set “Shines Like Gold” in 2022.

• Caroline Rhea, 8 p.m. Sept. 14. Born in Westmount, Quebec, Canada, Rhea moved to New York in 1986 to pursue stand-up comedy and acting. Major TV roles include Hilda Spellman on the ABC/CW sitcom “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” from 1996 to 2003 and Linda Flynn Fletcher on Disney’s animated series “Phineas and Ferb.” The latter, which ran from 2007 to 2015., will return with new episodes in the near future.
