September 4, 2012 — Abby O’Donnell finishes with 40 assists in Marian’s 22-25, 25-20, 25-10, 25-16 Schuylkill League volleyball victory over rival Nativity in its season opener. The total lifts her over 1,000 for her career. After a poor first set in which the Fillies, coached by John “Doc” Fallabel, commit 18 errors — including seven service errors, the winners bounce back. Marian controls the second and third sets, but falls behind in the fourth. Kills by Grace Boyle and Sophie Myers give the Fillies a lead. Later, back-to-back kills by Mary Kate Sherkness and three aces from Lauren Nietz help seal the victory.
