Weatherly sets electronics recycling Sept. 26

Weatherly Borough will be hosting an electronics recycling event from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 26 at Eurana Park.

This is a no-contact event, and people should remain inside their vehicles and have exact change or a check ready for items that are recycled for a fee.

Items recycled for free include, desktop computers (fee for monitors), DVD players and VCRs, keyboards and mice, gaming systems, printers/fax machines, string Christmas lights, cables and cords, microwaves and small appliances, cellphone and laptop batteries, metal items and water heaters, laptops, exercise equipment, UPS battery backups, car batteries (sealed lead acid), toner and ink cartridges, bed frames and rain spouting, audiovisual equipment, filing cabinets, telephones and cellphones (batteries removed).

Additional Items that can be recycled for a fee include: washers and dryers, $20; air conditioners, $25; dishwashers, $20; dehumidifiers, $25; computer monitors, $20; refrigerators, $35; floor freezers, $35; floor copiers, $20; ranges/stoves, $20; console stereos (in cabinet), $35; televisions — under 42 inches all types, $40; televisions in wooden cabinet, projection and over 42 inches, and televisions tubes, broken televisions, $58; and water coolers and dorm fridges, $25.

Lamps don’t have to be recycled under Pennsylvania law.

Destruction services for a fee include: hard drive and documents (both off-site), $10 per drive and $10 per standard paper size box. Each includes a certificate of destruction.

Only cash and checks will be accepted. People should make checks payable to Responsible Recycling Services or RRS.
