Coaldale police charged a Tamaqua man with criminal trespass on Aug. 17, and harassment on Aug. 20.

According to police, James Englert, 47, went to an East Foster Avenue home at 5:50 p.m. Aug. 17. He knocked on the door and shouted that he wanted his clothes.

A woman told him to go away because she did not want him in her home.

Police said Englert then entered the home through a back door. The woman told him several times to leave but he did not.

When she told Englert that she was calling police, Englert left and stood on the street.

Police arrived at 6 p.m. and saw Englert outside. Officers said he and the women were shouting but stopped when ordered to do so.

Englert said he did not live at the Coaldale home but wanted his belongings returned. Police advised him that he would have to hire a constable.

He was told to leave and advised that he was not allowed at the property.

Police said the woman reported that she had been in a relationship with Englert but that he had not lived at the home since June 2020.

Englert was charged by police with criminal trespass.

Officers were called back to the home at 6:49 p.m. Aug. 20. The woman said she received a threatening call from Englert.

Police subsequently charged him with harassment.

A preliminary hearing for Englert is scheduled for 9:40 a.m. Oct. 1 before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer in Tamaqua.
