The Tamaqua Area School District is now employing full-time school police officers as it begins the new school year.
The school board on Tuesday adapted its school police/resource officer position from part-time to full-time, and will be bringing on some new officers.
The board reclassified Ronald Kazakavage’s position from part-time to full-time at the current rate of $29.22 an hour, and hired Linda Flores, as a full-time officer, and Robert Quezada and Bill Easparro, as part-time officers, all at the rate of $28.03 an hour.
Superintendent Ray Kinder said that they all won’t be starting immediately, as some are waiting for final certifications before they can begin.
