Three new faculty members were hired and the resignation of another was accepted during a special meeting of the Lehighton Area School Board last night.

Philip F. Miller of Coaldale, hired as a high school science teacher by the board on Aug. 12, resigned to accept a similar position with another school district.

The new teachers are Marie Miller of Slatington, hired as a fourth grade teacher at the Shull-David Elementary School; Neil R. Millheim of Secane, Delaware County, hired as a high school social studies teacher; and Gloria J. Gulvas of Kingston, Luzerne County, hired as an elementary school guidance counselor.

In an unrelated move, Ivan Shibley was named head teacher at the Shull-David school.
