A new $4 million industrial plant goes into operation today in Carbon County, and the president of the firm has cited the Scranton Administration’sindustrial development program as a “strong influence” in the decision to locate in this state.

The New Jersey Zinc Company is opening the new facility, an ammonia plant, which comes as an addition to the company’s zinc manufacturing operations in Palmerton.

R.L. McCann, the company’s president, credited the administration of Gov. William Scranton with influencing its decision to locate here, which will result in bringing to 2,000 the number of persons employed by the zinc company.
