August 24, 1961 — Mike Tessitore pitches a six-hitter and Keith Miller slugs a home run to help lead Jim Thorpe to a 6-2 victory over Tamaqua in a Panther Valley Little League tournament game. Tessitore, who also collects two hits at the plate, walks four and strikes out 10. After Mike Paulas reaches base in the home first, Miller connects for a two-run blast to put Thorpe ahead. Miller finishes with a pair of hits and two runs, while Gene Sweeney chips in with a hit and a run. For Tamaqua, Bill Oster drills a solo homer.
