Monk helps Lehighton defeat Tamaqua

Lehighton needed double-overtime to defeat Tamaqua in girls soccer Friday.

Sadie Monk added her second goal of the game with a double-overtime score for the Lady Indians to defeat Tamaqua 2-1 in non-conference play. Cassidy Litss made 13 saves for Lehighton in the victory.

Kimmy Rudy scored the lone goal for Tamaqua. Veronica Scott also made 17 saves in the loss.

Sam Farrone shot a match-low 83 to propel Marian to a 336-412 victory over Weatherly in Schuylkill League play. Alex Krapf joined Farrone by shooting an 83 in the contest. Collin Yurkanin made it three Marian players in the 80s by posting an 84.

Pleasant Valley clinched the first win of the season against East Stroudsburg North in an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference match. Brianca Pridham and Avery Cogan scored victories in the singles matches for the Lady Bears.

Pridham and Shannon Price took the first doubles match for Pleasant Valley, while Breslin Beck and Devon Bush cemented the team win in the third doubles match.
