Garden club

The Lewistown Valley Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at 1 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Zion Church social hall in Lewistown Valley.

The program to be presented is “Butterflies.” Arrangements are welcome and the theme this month is “Mending” using fresh flowers with a sewing accessory.

The specimen to be judged is any blooming flower.

St. Peter’s Church West Penn

St. Peter’s Church West Penn Township, St. Peter’s Road, Tamaqua (Mantzville) holds a worship service every Sunday at 9 a.m.

The church will hold its Fall Fest from 4-8 p.m. on Sept. 6; and noon to 7 p.m. on Sept. 7. It is held rain or shine. There will be food, craft vendors, a bake sale, basket raffle, homemade peach cobbler and more both days. On Saturday, there will be games, Bingo and music by Derek Jones from 2-5 p.m.

Retirees meet every second Wednesday of the month for a meal and games. You do not need to be a member to join.
