Joint Operating Committee of CCTI

The Joint Operating Committee of the Carbon Career & Technical Institute, Jim Thorpe, passed the following items at its Aug. 15 meeting:

• Appoint Daniel Malloy, Weatherly Area School District superintendent, as superintendent of record for Carbon Career & Technical Institute through July 31, 2025, at the established per meeting stipend of $150. Payment will be based on attendance at regularly scheduled Joint Operating Committee meetings.

• Accept the letter of resignation from Jacquelyn Cole, English teacher, effective July 22.

• Assign Henry Woods the duties of an attendance officer for the 2024-25 school year.

• Appoint Dave Reinbold records retention officer for the 2024-25 school year.

• Approve Jerome Brown Jr. and Jeffry Nietz as substitute part-time technology assistants (on an as-needed basis) at a rate of $175 per day.

• Appoint Francine Kluck as adult education site supervisor, effective Sept. 5 through Sept. 4, 2025, as presented at no cost to the budget.

• Approve the purchase of health/medical textbooks at a approximate cost of $7,500 through Goodheart-Willcox Publisher.

• Approve transportation contracts for 2024-25, noting that each contractor will be paid any cost for gasoline used to fulfill the terms of this contract which exceed $2 per gallon: Jim Thorpe Area School District, $52 per day per bus; George’s Transportation Company Inc., Lehighton Area School District, $102 per day per bus, and mid-day run, $102 per day per bus; Leon George II School Buses Inc., Palmerton Area School District, $229 per day per bus; Panther Valley School District, $96 per day per bus; and Weatherly Area School District, $140 per day per bus

• Approve the vape detection proposal from Keystone Fire and Security at a cost of $14,753.

• Approve the 2025 CCTI graduation date of June 3, 5 p.m., in the CCTI Field, under the tent.

• Appoint King, Spry, Herman, Freund & Faul LLC for specialized work for the 2024-25 fiscal year on an as-needed basis.
