Turnpike crashes
State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:
• No one was hurt in a one-vehicle crash at 8:37 p.m. Aug. 7 at mile marker 86 in Penn Forest Township.
Police said Chansen A. Brown, 25, of Tunkhannock, was operating a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro northbound when it traveled off the roadway and struck an embankment.
He was cited after the crash, police said.
• The occupant was unhurt in a one-vehicle crash at 8:06 p.m. Aug. 6 at mile marker 83.1 in Penn Forest Township.
Police said Philip M. Diamond, 44, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, was driving a 2020 Nissan Sentra when he attempted to pass a commercial vehicle that fishtailed and swerved to the right travel lane.
Diamond lost control of the Sentra and it struck the center concrete barrier, police said. The car was towed from the scene.
• Tyler J. Miller, 26, of Cream Ridge, New Jersey, had serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 2:59 p.m. Aug. 2 at mile marker 96.6 in Kidder Township, police said.
He was transported by personnel from the White Haven Rescue Squad to the Geisinger-Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.
Police said he was the driver of the vehicle that crashed.
Three passengers, Stephanie Iacoviello, 24, of Manalapan, New Jersey, Margaret Klopfer, 28, of Raritan, New Jersey, and John Heintz, 26, of Howell, New Jersey, were all transported by the ambulance to the Geisinger facility. Police said had minor injuries.
Police said the crash occurred when Miller was northbound in a 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 and lost control on the wet roadway. The truck struck an embankment and overturned onto its driver’s side.
• George C. Prendergast, 62, of Narberth, was uninjured when the 2019 Lincoln Continental he was driving struck a bear that entered it path. It occurred at 10:26 p.m. July 27 at mile marker 96.5 in Kidder Township.
• No one was injured in a crash at 3:30 p.m. July 26 at mile marker 68.8 in Washington Township.
Police said a 2006 Volkswagen Beetle driven by Stephen H. Gilson, 65, of White Haven, struck a 2020 Volvo operated by Alejandro Montoya-Zapata, 46, of Hialeah, Florida, after the Volvo slowed for traffic. The Beetle then became sandwiched between the Volvo and the jersey barrier on the left side of the road, police said. The car had to be towed from the scene.
• Kirk D. White, 39, of Aberdeen, Maryland, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 5:10 a.m. July 22 at mile marker 75.5 in Franklin Township. He was uninjured.
Police said that he was driving a 2011 Dodge Ram truck southbound when it left the roadway and struck a light pole. The vehicle sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.
