PSP Fogelsville incidents

State police at the Fogelsville barracks reported the following incidents:

• A 57-year-old man from Emmaus had $62,115 stolen from him in a theft by deception/wire fraud incident that police are investigating.

Police said the incidents occurred between Oct. 23, 2023, and April 4, 2024. The man involved resides on Benjamin Court, Upper Milford Township.

He told police that he was contacted via Google workplace chat by an individual posing as Gary Vaynerchuk, a knowledgeable crypto currency investor/entrepreneur. Police said the man was given assistance by the individual and the above amount was invested through several transactions over seven months.

Police said that when the man tried to access his investments, the money was gone, The scam was first reported to the state attorney general’s office.

• A 64-year-old New Tripoli man was targeted in a theft by deception incident that police were called to at 8 p.m. July 13 at a property on Penny Court, Lynn Township.

Police said the man reported a fraudulent debit card charge of $395.33 was found on his account from a CubeSmart storage facility in Paterson, New Jersey.

The man told police that his employer had a data security breach, which he believed enabled the theft.

• Police were called to a criminal mischief incident at 1:30 a.m. May 27 at a business on Route 309 in Lynn Township.

The person who called, a 66-year-old man from New Tripoli, told police that someone threw a stone through a glass door on the business in an attempt to gain entry but was unable to do so and fled north on Route 309 in an unknown vehicle. Estimated damage to the door totaled $2,000, police said.
