PSP Stroudsburg — crashes
State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported the following crashes:
• Nicolas A. Pecca, 31, of Saylorsburg, was cited for careless driving following an incident at 1:12 a.m. July 21 on Interstate 80 in Hamilton Township.
Police said he was driving a 2002 Ford Focus and was driving carelessly for several miles behind a 2021 Volvo when he attempted to pass the Volvo as it began merging into the right lane. Police did not say whether or not a crash occurred.
• Police said a 2017 Freightliner struck low hanging wires and pulled them down onto Glenbrook Road, Hamilton Township, at 12:05 p.m. July 23.
The incident resulted in the passenger’s side mirror of the rig being damaged.
The driver, who was not identified, was not injured, police said.
• Police responded to a non-reportable crash at 11:03 a.m. July 20 on Interstate 80 in Hamilton Township.
They said Carlos Laboy, 63, of Bushkill, was cited for forgery/counterfeiting after they discovered he was the owner of a 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage that had a fraudulent safety inspection sticker on its windshield.
• Scott Zheng, 22, of New York, New York, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 6:51 p.m. July 19 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township.
Police said he was driving a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta northbound and attempted to make a right turn onto Beaver Valley Road when he lost control of the car and struck a guide rail.
The car was towed from the scene.
Police said Zheng was cited for the crash.
• No one was injured in a crash at 3:25 p.m. July 9 at the intersection of Milford and Hollow roads in Middle Smithfield Township.
Police said it involved a 2012 Kia Sorento driven by Kaeli E. Waldstein, 20, of Bushkill, and a 2018 Subaru Legacy operated by Alecia J. Schaeffer, 36, of Saylorsburg.
Police said Waldstein was cited for following too closely.
• Vladimir Borodine, 60, of Delaware Water Gap, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 3:13 p.m. July 20 on Haney Road, Hamilton Township.
Police said he was driving a 2021 Hyundai Elantra that traveled off the roadway and struck a tree on the eastbound shoulder before continuing to strike a second tree.
The car sustained disabling damages, police said.
• Robert J. Magee Jr., 40, of Oxford, sustained suspected serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 8:44 a.m. July 15 on Route 33 in Ross Township.
Police said he was transported by personnel from the St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono, East Stroudsburg.
Police said he was driving a 2023 Mack Truck northbound when he veered to the right and the truck struck the guide railing and traveled down an embankment where it struck a tree and overturned.
• David Ryan H. Ebuna, 32, of Mount Pocono, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a two-vehicle crash at 7:08 p.m. July 15 on Route 33 in Ross Township. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2013 Honda CRV that was involved in the incident with a 2015 Nissan Rogue driven by Miranda E. Curren, 37, of Tannersville. She sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported by personnel from the St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services to the t. Luke’s Hospital, Bartonsville Campus.
Police did not report the details of the incident.
• One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 8:58 p.m. July 12 on the Interstate 380 off-ramp in Tobyhanna Township.
It involved vehicles operated by Cynthia Tan, 20, of Brooklyn, New York, and Phillip M. Rowe, 41, of Effort.
Police said Rowe sustained suspected minor injuries but refused a medical transport.
They did not provide the details of the incident.
• Joseph I. Brustein, 18, of Kunkletown, was cited for a motorcycle crash that occurred at 8:39 p.m. July 14 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township.
Police said he was operating a 2005 Kawasaki that traveled off the left shoulder and struck the center concrete barrier, coming to rest against it.
Police said Brustein had several abrasions and lacerations and complained of pain in his legs but refused a medical transport by personnel from the Suburban ambulance corps.
• Antoni N. Poslednik, 18, of Maspeth, New York, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 10:29 p.m. June 22 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township.
Police said he was driving a 2013 Toyota Prius northbound when he lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway. The car struck a concrete barrier and sustained disabling damages that required it to be towed from the scene.
• Margaret L. Schmidt, 81, of Saylorsburg, sustained suspected serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 8:50 a.m. July 26 on Hamilton Road in Hamilton Township.
Police said she was transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health EMS unit to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono, East Stroudsburg.
They said she was driving a 2015 Honda Civic northbound when it traveled off the right side of the road while negotiating a left curve in the road. The vehicle struck a utility pole, continued north and struck a concrete culvert, rotated counterclockwise and overturned.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
