Man charged following dog incident in Carbon

A Palmerton man has been charged after allegedly threatening to burn a woman’s house down during an argument in Towamensing Township.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Justin Swartz in the case against Shaun Parsons: Around 10:10 a.m. July 14, a woman contacted PSP Lehighton to report dogs were on her property in the 100 block of Ziegre Drive, and then she was threatened by the dogs’ owner.

Around 10:30 a.m., Swartz made contact with the woman, who said she observed two chocolate Labradors running on her property before calling.

A man approached in a blue pickup, and the woman asked if the dogs belonged to him; he said yes. The woman told the man that he needs to keep the dogs on his property, and that if she was threatened by the dogs, she would shoot them.

The man, Parsons, 34, who was described as having dark hair and no shirt on, began yelling at the woman and stated if she shoots his dogs, he will burn her house down.

The woman recognized the truck as possibly being parked in the 400 block of 57 Drive.

The address is a known address for Parsons and Cheryl Lewis, both of whom had active warrants; Parsons, a warrant out of Carbon County, and Lewis, a warrant out of Monroe County.

Swartz observed a juvenile on a couch inside the camper in question. The juvenile said the two were inside and wouldn’t exit but allowed police into the camper. The rear bedroom was locked.

A search warrant was executed, and Lewis and Parsons surrendered.

The search yielded about 10 grams of methamphetamine, bulk and in prepackaged containers, marijuana, pills, psilocybin mushrooms, various drug paraphernalia items consistent with selling and using controlled substances, along with identifiable information inside a locked cabinet that also had a pricing guide.

Lewis was transported to Monroe County Correctional Facility for her outstanding warrant. Parsons was transported to Carbon County Correctional Facility.

Parsons faces charges of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; terroristic threats; operation of vehicle with suspended or revoked license for DUI; intentional possession of controlled substance by person not registered; disorderly conduct; marijuana — small amount personal use; use/possession of drug paraphernalia; and confinement and control.

Parsons is currently incarcerated in the county prison in lieu of $20,000 monetary bail.
