Volleyball star Carroll part of 2024 Jim Thorpe Hall of Fame class

Kelsey Carroll, a 2018 graduate of Jim Thorpe Area High School and a 2024 graduate of Wilkes University, is a member of the 2024 Jim Thorpe Area Sports Hall of Fame class.

In 2018, Carroll was awarded first team All-State honors in 2A Volleyball, becoming the first All-State player in the history of JTAHS volleyball program. Carroll’s other notable recognitions included first team District 11 by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association, and three-time Schuylkill League all star.

Carroll helped lead the Olympians to the District 11 2A championship game during the 2018 season. She was also named the team MVP during that season and upon graduation, she received the Jim Thorpe Area Sports Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Award. Carroll finished her career with the Olympians with a school-record 1,309 assists. She also tallied 830 digs, 375 kills and 282 aces during her career.

The Jim Thorpe Hall of Fame Banquet will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. at the Jim Thorpe Area High School. Tickets to the banquet are $25 and can be purchased by reaching out to Jack Kmetz (570-952-4288), or Craig Zurn (570-325-3855).

The 2024 Jim Thorpe Area Sports Hall of Fame clas also includes: Kayley Kovac, Joe Eichhorn Sr., Kevin Vitti, Brooke Cope and the 2015 boys track & field team. Every Saturday through Aug. 24, a different inductees’ bio will be published in the Times News.
