Palmerton pair charged with stealing tools

Two Palmerton men have been charged burglarizing a house and stealing tools.

The two were identified by police as Jarred Dillman and Ryan Rehrig.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Shawn Leadbetter of the Palmerton Borough Police Department:

At 10:06 a.m. Saturday, Leadbetter was dispatched to the 300 block of Lehigh Avenue for a report of a burglary that occurred overnight.

Upon arrival, Leadbetter met with the property owner and a contractor, who said that he had been working at the residence for several months and when he arrived in the morning at the house he saw a window air conditioning unit on the sidewalk next to the home.

He noticed the back door and front doors were open, and that several of his tools were missing.

The owner said her ex-boyfriend, Rehrig, 44, was most likely the suspect, as he was attempting to sell the tools on Facebook Market Place.

Rehrig admitted over the phone to the neighbor, and in the presence of police, that he and Dillman, 34, broke into the residence and took the tools.

Police said Rehrig and Dillman had entered the residence without permission and stole the following items, which had a total value of $3,422: Milwaukee 18-volt multi-tool; Milwaukee 18-volt angled finish nailer; Milwaukee 18-volt cordless drill; Milwaukee 18-volt 1/4 crown stapler; 18 volt 7 1/4 circular saw; 12 amp Milwaukee battery; Klein multi meter voltage tester; Klein miscellaneous hand tools; and a Milwaukee jigsaw.

Rehrig said he and Dillman were going to drop off the stolen tools to a man in the 5700 block of Interchange Road in Lehighton.

Both Rehrig and Dillman each faces charges of burglary, theft by unlawful taking or disposition and receiving stolen property,

Both are currently jailed in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 straight bail each. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for Aug. 14 before District Judge William J. Kissner of Palmerton
